Sometimes I find myself thinking, What can we do to better the world we live in? I think this simple curiosity can send ripples across mankind and the universe. By being conscious of our world and recognizing its flaws, we open ourselves to growth. However, too many people are not in this contemplative and aware state. Many humans passively experience life--simply following the motions in order to obtain an adequate car, house, job, and seemingly "dream life." People lose sense of PASSION, LOVE, ART, NATURE, and EXPRESSION by focusing on material, tangible objects. Material objects cannot be felt from our heart and soul, nor can they stimulate us in the way human connection or the arts can.
The video below (Alan Watts - Awakening) is a powerful representation of our dwelling in the physical world. WARNING: It contains disturbing images, but I urge you to watch as the words from Alan Watts are powerfully profound. A majority of images in this video are taken from the documentary Samsara (Ron Fricke), which I highly recommend to spark a contemplative thought process. Initially, the silence of the documentary will be eerie and uncomfortable, then you will slowly produce your own narrative, provoking many emotions associated with the shocking and unbelievably beautiful/disturbing imagery. Similarly, this video will make you feel the same. Please, watch the entire thing - you will not regret it.

You have to find the love the world encompasses. You have to discover it for yourself and recognize the simple beauty this world truly holds. Mainstream media manipulates our minds to envision the world as purely evil. Although I am in agreement with mankind's innate flaws, I also naively believe there is hope in the universe for preservation of beauty. How do we spark this growth? Begin with yourself, and be aware of the world around you. Do not fall into the passive, isolated, "rise and grind" mentality of the world today. Connect with others and yourself--not the television, computer, iPhone, tablet, etc. Live for today, and make it a beautiful today.
