I am INCREDIBLY thankful for a weekend at home on Long Island to reconnect, center myself, and relieve myself of home sickness. I was genuinely missing the crisp autumn air, feelings of comfort and love, and my family/friends. For about two weeks, I attempted being "strong enough" to push past my desire to go home, and increasingly found myself more frustrated and disconnected. Finally, I determined the only appropriate response was to actually return home to Long Island and revamp my soul.
My soul was fed with precious loved ones, a trip to eastern Long Island Wine Country (particularly Osprey Dominion on the North Fork), sunflowers, country music, a hike on Breakneck Ridge in Westchester County, touching rocks along the path, cinnamon chai tea latte, feeling an intense connection with nature, autumn leaves (just beginning to change colors!), family gatherings, and NY pizza. Now, I have returned to South Florida with more clarity and feel grounded/centered.

How perfect is this quote my family has hanging above our house entrance? Despite the distance we may have between us, and the constant changes in life, we will always be connected at our roots.
